The purpose of this role
The opportunity involves collaborative working with a consortium of best in class Cyber companies. The role will involve working closely with the customers and consortium strategists and business analysts. As the Data Centre and Operational environment lead you will define the Data Centre and Operation Room strategy, objectives high Level Use Cases and Physical Site and Security Considerations. You will also be responsible for defining the Data Centre & Operation Room Architectural Requirements & generate RFPs for an implementation phase.
What I'll be doing - your accountabilities
• Defining and Developing a Data Centre and Operational environment strategy and roadmap.
• Identifying the scalability and functional requirements for immediate and long-term requirements and migration of existing Data Centre and Operational Centre environments and capabilities.
• Defining the Operational Business Continuity and Resilience Requirements
• Evaluating site Physical and Security Considerations for a national level cyber capability and defining the physical, virtual, environmental, internal, and external networking and connectivity requirements.
• Creating RFPs and an Implementation Roadmap. for Data Centres and Operation environments, locations, and rooms
• Ensure industry and best practices are adopted and followed for the Data Centre and operational environment architecture.
• Elaborating strategic and business requirements into functional, non-functional requirements across people, processes, and technology.
• Providing input into the operational cost model for the delivery of the services.
• Define the Data Centre build and transition road maps for implementing the operational and technical capabilities.
• Performing a gap between the proposed roadmap and current capabilities - As-Is -> To Be Gap Analysis
• Identify opportunities for reuse, simplification and productisation within the technology architecture stack.
Skills required for the job
• At least 10 years of experience working in Data Centre architectural design and specification, including at least 2 years working on the design of solutions.
• Expert-level skills in Data Centre architecture and design
• A mature understanding of how to turn service and operating models and processes into technical capabilities and requirements.
• Previous experience in leading the development and design of Data Centres and supporting infrastructure.
• A mature knowledge and Data Centre Power and cooling, Structured cabling and networking, Space and volumetrics, physical security, and Fallback and recovery requirements
• A mature understanding of physical, private, and cloud-based Data Centre architectures and technology including virtualisation, micro services, and containerisation
• Previous experience in developing and producing large outcome-based RFP's.
• A mature understanding and experience in writing Use Cases and Requirements Elicitation, Definition and Management
• A good understanding of Automated Process Asset and Technology Asset Management
• Ability to work with solution architects, designers, and other stakeholders to illicit requirements
• To be strategic thinker and have ideas about how to turn physical and environmental requirements into RFP's and design packages.
• A methodical and logical approach to handling complex problems in a large organisation.
• Ability to communicate with stakeholders in business service and process jargon and translate effectively between the two.
• Ability to perform and manage risk assessments and capability gap analysis.
