Job Description Summary
The Principal Cloud Architect is an accomplished technical leader, proactive customer-focused advocate, a team player with solid understanding of cloud computing and technology systems, as well as experience designing and migrating applications to the cloud. The candidate will be responsible for architecting highly scalable, available, and elastic solutions that implement industry best practices using cloud-based solutions with specific understanding of Microsoft Azure and familiarity with other clouds including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and others. This individual will be involved in the design, review of architectures, and construction of cloud service provider environments. The candidate should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to effectively share the knowledge. The candidate must have hands-on experience evaluating and implementing cloud strategies and program architecture. The candidate must have hands-on experience with architecting cloud solutions and migrating on premise computing to cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation, supporting deployments in an Azure environment. Position is remote, and may periodically require being onsite at Maximus HQ in McLean, Virginia. Responsibilities:•Provide guidance and technical oversight, brainstorm solutions, conduct architecture and design reviews to support internal teams as well as end clients.•Leads the design of integrated solutions using Azure and Power Platform.•Maintains and manages knowledge bases for Platform Architecture, Solution Design, and key design decisions.•Present technical solutions, guidance, governance and participate in architecture and design reviews.•Ability to articulate and explain the high-level architectures and design ideas to larger audiences and stakeholders.•Architect, design and lead the efforts in securing the cloud solutions.•Create a well-informed cloud strategy and regularly evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software.•Responsible for gathering system requirements working with application architects, product owner, and technical leads.•Responsible for generating scripts and templates required for the automatic provisioning of resources.•Discover standard cloud services offerings, install, and execute processes and standards for optimal use of cloud service provider offerings.•Stay well-informed of failures and complications related to a cloud offering.•Collaborate with the development teams to enable their applications to run on Cloud infrastructure.•Build and maintain highly available systems on Kubernetes with auto-scaling•Provide technical solution support during proposal development process, to include technology stack selection, solution architecture, and implementation methodology.•Guide and support RFIs, RFPs and RFQs, response development including writing of whitepapers and concept development.Education and Experience:•Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with more than 10 years of relevant experience. 12+ years of experience strongly preferred •At least 6+ years of Cloud platform Engineering experience including architecting cloud solutions at an enterprise level.•Has deep knowledge of cloud-architecture patterns and best-practices.•Strong working knowledge of Azure technologies (SaaS, PaaS) including, but not limited to Azure Compute, Kubernetes, Azure Data Factory, Azure Active Directory, Azure Purview / Service Catalog and Power Platform and familiarity with AWS, GCP and other clouds.•Azure Cloud Certifications, in particular AZ-204, AZ-303 and AZ-304 are an asset.•Good knowledge of .NET Core programming and design patterns.•Good knowledge of Database querying and optimization.•Knowledge in Cosmos DB, and Azure Elastic Search is an asset.•Software deployment automation through DevOps scripting (mainly, YAML for Azure DevOps)•Must have substantial federal government work experience – led or contributed significantly to the Federal proposals, solutioning. Job Summary
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for technical solutions and pricing regarding new RFP’s, RFI’s.
- Serve as subject matter expert to assist projects on technical matters and address needs of the client and other stakeholders
- Make recommendations to integrate new custom and cloud software, coordinate installation and support operations.
- Establish and enforce engineering and cloud computing best practices and standards
- Lead new product development, including services evaluation, POC (proof of concept) development and recommendation to adopt to ever changing technology trends
- Ensure the smooth working of PaaS platform and automation of infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, monitoring tasks.
- Provide recommendations on technical architecture to fine tune outer and inner architecture.
- Support the automation of manual tasks in the product integration and deployment life cycle.
- Serve as subject matter expert in the design, implementation, governance and support of key technology platforms.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
- 10-12 years of related experience required.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
