Job Summary
The InterDigital AI Lab in Silicon Valley is looking for recent Ph.D. grads and experienced researchers with expertise in Natural Language Processing and applied Machine Learning. The lab focuses on novel applications of AI and machine learning on next generation wireless and immersive technologies, along with leveraging state of the art NLP techniques in our core IP licensing business.
Some of our recent work includes neural network compression and representation, energy-efficient deep learning, deep learning-based video and image compression, deep learning for wireless communications and signal processing, NLP transformer networks, deep Bayesian networks, generative and adversarial learning.

Responsibilities:
• Lead and execute research on applying the latest advances in Large Language Models towards internal business applications.
• Propose, launch, lead and execute research with peer researchers at other InterDigital research centers, in collaboration with academic partners (PhD students, postdocs, professors)
• Develop new and innovative technologies, proof of concepts and prototypes
• Publish in top conferences (NIPS, ICML, KDD, EMNLP, …) and maintain outstanding academic credentials and visibility
• Supervise non-permanent staff (PhD and interns)
Qualifications:
• 2-5 years of experience in a research lab setting
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or other relevant discipline
• Strong academic track record and visibility, and in-depth knowledge in the following areas: machine learning, deep learning, optimization, natural language process
• Significant experience and hands on expertise with the state of art methods in Natural Language Processing, particularly LLS.
• Strong programming skills, with extensive hands-on experience on common machine learning frameworks (Tensorflow/Pytorch)
• Develop and foster relationships with the academic community and attract high-quality students and professors

A reasonable estimate of the current salary range specific to New York/CA is $150,000 - $240,000 /annually + discretionary incentive bonus, benefits and may include other forms of compensation components such as long-term incentives. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown
