We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team of two professionals dedicated to ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and security of our database systems. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our local software engineering team by managing and optimizing SQL Server databases, contributing to performance tuning initiatives, and actively participating in database schema design. Key Responsibilities: 1. Database Administration: • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances. • Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring efficient operation. • Implement and maintain database security measures to safeguard sensitive data. • Perform regular backups and recovery operations. 2. Performance Tuning: • Collaborate with software engineers to identify and address performance bottlenecks. • Conduct performance analysis and implement optimizations for query execution. • Proactively monitor and resolve issues affecting database performance. 3. Database Schema Design: • Work closely with the software engineering team to design and implement efficient database schemas. • Provide input on best practices for database schema design, considering scalability and performance. 4. Collaboration: • Collaborate with software engineers to understand database requirements for application development. • Work closely with the database team to ensure seamless integration with software applications. 5. Documentation: • Maintain comprehensive documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures. • Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible for the software engineering team. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. • Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator. • Strong expertise in performance tuning and optimization. • Proficiency in database schema design and implementation. • Solid understanding of database security best practices. • Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Preferred Skills: • Experience with other database systems (e.g., MySQL, Oracle). • Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions. • Familiarity with DevOps practices related to database management.
