Role Overview:
The UI/UX Designer reports to BU Head. Under their guidance and direct supervision, the UI/UX Designer will contribute to the creative advancement of the Department of Finance's data analytics dashboards and other software applications. This contribution involves designing and improving the visuals, UX and UI aspects of the Department of Finance's corporate web properties, thereby driving its digital transformation efforts.
The UI/UX Designer will collaborate with software developers, business managers, content specialists, and technologists to iteratively update and optimize the UX and UI of existing Dashboards and applications, as well as design new products.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in the revamp of the Department of Finance's Dashboards and software applications, encompassing information visualization, new UX/UI design, user journeys, usability testing.
• Iteratively optimize the navigational systems and templates of Department of Finance's applications, providing mock-ups as part of the solution development process.
• Continuously refine visual elements on the Department of Finance's applications to optimize the user experience for key audiences.
• Develop standardized visual and graphics elements and maintain a library of these elements for use by the other team members.
• Provide advice and recommendations on best practices, standards and tools in digital design and UX.
• Effectively communicate design approaches to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Produce visual representations of pages and components required for the Department of Finance's dashboards or software applications.
• Document behavior and functional specifications for components within the Department of Finance's design system, catering for application developers, engineers, and project managers.
• Chart user flows for key interactions within the Department of Finance's websites or applications.
• Collaborate with developers and engineers to implement design changes resulting from the user flows.
• Demonstrate the ability to conceptualize and create visually attractive and engaging websites and applications for both desktop and mobile devices.
• Possess a functional knowledge of web technologies which informs product design ideas and decisions.
• Knowledge of HTML and CSS is required.
Experience and Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Design, Fine Arts or related fields.
• For citizens: A Minimum of 3 years of experience
• For non-nationals: A minimum of 5 years of experience
Years of experience and required qualifications.
• 7+ years of experience in digital/interactive design with strong portfolio of UX/UI design.
• 7+ years of experience in developing Information Architectures, demonstrating proficiency in tasks such as site mapping, gap analysis, IA design strategy, wire-framing, presented in a clear and logical manner.
• 7+ years of experience in using Adobe XD, Figma, InVision and other wireframing and prototyping tools.
• Prior experience in working with design systems is advantageous.
• Familiarity with web accessibility standards.
