Reporting to the Senior Manager, Application Management & Business Operations, the Business Analyst will be responsible for providing technology planning, business area analysis, systems design and client support services for digital transformation initiatives. The Business Analyst is an internal consultant to the departments within TDSB. The Business Analyst is accountable to identify the opportunities and business requirements to optimize and transform the client’s workflow, processes and technology and will assist with preparing business specifications and plans to meet their digital transformation objectives. Summary of Duties: ➢ Manage the identification, specification, and design requirements for digital transformation opportunities; ➢ Develop selection criteria for vendor applications, evaluate, and determine customization of vendor applications; ➢ Optimize business processes related to manual and automated procedures; ➢ Analyze and assess current technology systems and infrastructure, identify gaps, and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness; ➢ Perform appropriate quality assurance reviews and tests. If software development is outsourced, participate in the review of the vendor’s quality assurance procedures for completeness and objectivity; ➢ Identify metrics and indicators to measure potential cost savings and business value from digital transformation initiatives; ➢ Responsible for the assessment and identification of process improvement opportunities involving analysis of current processes, re-engineering, improvement or discontinuance; ➢ Participate in the definition of project scope, strategy, goals, timelines and project proposal for digital transformation initiatives; ➢ Assist with the initiation and mapping of initial requirements for digital transformation initiatives; ➢ Participate in preparing a plan for defining the demand for services and resources involving service level agreements, and operational plan budget; ➢ Responsible for the defining of supplier responsibilities and deliverables, identifying potential suppliers and evaluating suppliers. ➢ Responsible for monitoring IT industrial trends, and assisting the user in identifying potential improvement initiatives and opportunities and investigate the value of the opportunity as it relates to business digital transformation; ➢ Participate in the creation of a business case or proposal for the potential improvement initiative; ➢ Responsible for receiving new or improvement requests for enhancements to information access capabilities; allocation or scheduling resources to work on the information access request; ➢ Coordinate and facilitate brainstorming sessions, design thinking exercises and demonstrations with the clients and stakeholders; ➢ Handover/transition project requests or procurements (RFPs) to IT teams based on the Board’s project methodology; ➢ Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services; and ➢ Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: ➢ University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technology field with four years’ progressive experience in an Information Technology environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience; ➢ Experience in business and process modelling methodologies and tools, business case development methodologies, design thinking, systems design and analysis; ➢ Detail oriented and analytical with strong problem solving skills; ➢ Excellent time management skills including the ability to multi-task and prioritize; ➢ Sound understanding of IT Application Development Lifecycle, performance metrics: overall and specific to business analysis; ➢ Strong project management and planning skills; ➢ Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively using a variety of methods and tools, including video conferencing and social media; ➢ Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365, Project, Visio and Google productivity suites ➢ Knowledge of TDSB’s enterprise business platforms such as ServiceNow, SAP and PowerSchool; ➢ Proven ability in promoting equitable practices which value inclusiveness and diversity. Special Requirements: ➢ Provision of own vehicle for Board Business. ➢ Requires some travel across TDSB sites.
