In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the efficiency, security, and reliability of their database systems, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL and experience with other databases.
Key Responsibilities:
PostgreSQL Expertise:
• Utilise your extensive experience with PostgreSQL to design, implement, and maintain high-performance database systems.
• Conduct regular performance tuning, monitoring, and optimisation to ensure maximum efficiency.
Multi-Database Management:
• Manage and administer various database systems, including MySQL, Oracle, and other relational databases.
• Implement best practices for data security, integrity, and availability across multiple platforms.
Database Design and Architecture:
• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database solutions that align with application requirements.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of database architecture and standards.
Backup and Recovery:
• Implement robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.
• Test and maintain disaster recovery plans to minimise downtime in the event of system failures.
Security and Compliance:
• Ensure databases comply with security policies and industry standards.
• Implement access controls, encryption, and auditing mechanisms to protect sensitive information.
Performance Monitoring:
• Develop and implement monitoring tools to track database performance and proactively address issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise database-driven application performance.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Database Administrator/Engineer, with a huge focus on PostgreSQL.
• Strong proficiency in managing other databases such as MySQL, Oracle, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of database architecture, design, and performance optimisation.
• Hands-on experience with database security, backup, and recovery.
• Familiarity with industry best practices and emerging trends in database technology.
