Risk and Compliance is a Second Line of Defense (LOD) function, responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group’s businesses (also referred to as “the First LOD”) to ensure that they effectively manage as “Risk Owners” the risks inherent in or arising from the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible. The Second LOD consists of 'Risk Stewards' who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the First LOD. The Risk and Compliance function is a Risk Steward for a number of financial and non-financial risks in accordance with HSBC Group’s risk framework.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Data Engineer - Innovation and Generative AI Solutions.
Principal Responsibilities
• Lead the execution of data design projects involving generative AI and other innovative technologies, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results
• Collaborate with key sponsors and stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables, and ensure alignment with the bank's strategic goals
• Develop and implement advanced data-driven models and algorithms to drive innovation and improve business processes
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, Risk, Compliance, and Operations, to ensure seamless integration of AI solutions within the bank's existing systems and control framework
• Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of AI models and solutions, making adjustments as needed to optimize results
• Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in AI and data science, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement within the bank
• Mentor and develop new team members, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
• Communicate project progress, data related results, and insights to senior management and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment
Requirements
• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence, with a focus on generative AI and innovative technologies
• Proven track record of leading and delivering complex transformation projects within a large organization
• Strong knowledge of AI and machine learning algorithms, tools, and frameworks
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java. Prior exposure to Open AI, BARD and other generative AI solutions is highly desirable
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
• Experience in the financial services industry is preferred but not required
