The recruitment team at Myticas Consulting is seeking a highly skilled and motivated SQL Database Administrator for a 9-month contract.
The ideal SQL DBA candidate will have a strong background in performance tuning, database administration, and experience with Azure cloud migration
The primary responsibilities of this role will be to optimize database performance, improve overall system efficiency, and assist in migrating our database to the Azure cloud platform.
Responsibilities:
1. Performance Tuning: Identify and analyze database performance issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies. Develop and implement effective strategies to optimize database performance, including but not limited to query optimization, index tuning, and database parameter configuration.
2. Database Administration: Manage and maintain database systems to ensure high availability, security, and data integrity. Perform regular database backups, restoration, and disaster recovery planning. Monitor database performance and proactively address issues to minimize downtime.
3. Azure Cloud Migration: Collaborate with the team to plan and execute the migration of our database to the Azure cloud platform. Assess the current infrastructure, design and implement the necessary changes, and ensure a smooth transition to the cloud environment.
4. Database Security: Implement and maintain database security policies, access controls, and data encryption mechanisms. Monitor and respond to security threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulations.
5. Database Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and implement database monitoring tools and procedures to ensure optimal performance and uptime. Generate performance reports, conduct capacity planning, and provide recommendations for system improvements.
6. Database Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database architecture, configuration, and standard operating procedures. Ensure documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessible to the team.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, database design principles, and performance tuning techniques.
• Experience with Azure cloud migration and management.
• Familiarity with database security concepts and best practices.
• Proficient in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
