Here we grow!
Want to solve problems in an industry considered to be one of the most complex in the world?
PEER Group’s Product Engineering Team has an opportunity for a Test Automation Developer looking to apply their expertise to the development of best-in-class software applications for the semiconductor industry. Reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, you will be a key contributor on a high-performance team solving sophisticated factory and tool automation challenges. This is currently a hybrid role requiring 50 per cent of the work week spent in-office.
As a Test Automation Developer, following PEER Group’s agile methodology for software development, you will design and write automated tests using proprietary and third-party automation testing suites to minimize the manual component of testing and accelerate our product development without sacrificing quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop, review, and maintain automated scenario, interface, performance, and regression tests for Windows and Linux desktop applications using automated test suites.
• Integrate automated test suites into PEER Group development pipelines via scripting.
• Prepare, maintain, and report on test plans to ensure that software delivers the required functionality.
• Analyze and report software defects, with reproduction steps, in a clear and consistently documented manner per our testing processes.
• Identify gaps in automated product testing and provide recommendations to increase coverage and quality.
• Follow our agile methodology: lead or participate in daily team scrums, develop and maintain user stories to ensure automated test coverage, contribute to story point sizing and voting for sprint planning, review automated tests written by others, and review product documentation for accuracy.
• Develop and/or maintain software simulators, utilities, and SDK code samples.
• Work with the rest of the Engineering Team to triage customer reported issues, and contribute to their timely and successful resolution.
• Learn about PEER Group’s products, the Semiconductor automation standards, and customer solutions.
• Collaborate extensively with your team, other departments, customers, and management.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Post-secondary education in a technical or scientific field that has required you to do some programming (Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Software Programming Diploma, or similar).
• Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a test automation development role, with a demonstrated ability to devise unanticipated scenarios from software requirements that are capable of challenging even the best-developed software.
• Proficiency with development languages such as C# (preferred), C++, or Java and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python).
• Proficiency with client/server applications using technologies such as gRPC/protobuf.
• Proficiency with test automation frameworks (e.g., RobotFramework, Selenium, Playwright).
• Proficiency with multi-platform environments (Windows and Linux).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure DevOps Server, Git, or other version control and application lifecycle management software.
• Familiarity with cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP with container environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with unit test tools such as MSTest, Xunit, or Nunit.
• Familiarity with front-end web technologies such as Blazor would be an asset.
• Advanced analytical and critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, strategic business perspective and results orientation.
