Due to the continued growth in our Rail and Transit practice, our Ontario team is looking for a Project Architect to join our growing Canadian Operations. To be successful you must be a Licensed/intern architect with a minimum of 3 years of Industrial/rail and transit experience (stations & facilities) This position will support our Engineering and Design Operations for multi-discipline projects in various industries including rail, stations and transportation facilities, water/wastewater treatment plants, energy, solid waste, food, and agricultural, environmental, and other industrial buildings. The Project/Intern Architect will cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regional team leads across Ontario, Canada, North America, and GHD’s global network. Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: • Work with a team to develop the design for projects and/or review architectural or engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with government codes, laws, and regulations. • Support the lead architect with drafting and modeling of plans and design options when necessary, and the ability to provide documentation support and added value in a design-build environment. • Prepares and/or reviews preliminary and detailed documentation in a 3D environment. • Reviews and provides support to the team on policies and procedures in relation to architectural structures and systems and construction/safety codes. • Research literature and maintain knowledge of current building materials, structural, mechanical, and electrical system codes, and methods of application. • Works with customers and Clients to gather facts, define design and space planning problems, conceptualize possible solutions, and secure approvals of proposals. • Reviews product literature analyzes materials and determines appropriateness for application to projects. • Prepares presentations, annotated plans, axonometric diagrams, and other necessary information to support the design team. • Performs design drafting including preliminary drawings, working drawings, and full-detail drawings for architectural works associated with building construction or improvement projects. • Technically competent in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office • Supports multi-disciplinary reviews and coordination within a 3D environment to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to project requirements and client/company standards. What you will bring to the team: • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or architectural Engineering or equivalent • Licensed/intern architect with Industrial/rail and transit (stations & facilities) project design experience is preferred. • Advanced skills with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, and Building Information Modeling (BIM), knowledgeable in the use of Sketch-up, 3D software, Rendering software, and Photoshop. • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with fluency in working in 3D. • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal (French is considered an asset) • Highly motivated with interpersonal and leadership skills • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly evolving priorities. • Experience with BIM modeling software with the ability to manage models and perform clash detection. • Advanced skills with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) • Must be capable of communicating/presenting concepts through verbal, written, or drawing mediums. • Must have strong graphic presentation skills and abilities to present to clients and project teams.
