Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Orientation, Onboarding, and Learning, this newly established role is integral to ensuring an outstanding experience for every new employee at UHN from Day 1. The incumbent will be pivotal in cultivating a sense of connection, value, and empowerment for individuals joining UHN. Furthermore, they will actively support teamUHN in accessing diverse learning opportunities, fostering both personal growth and professional development for employees at all levels within the organization. Situated within the People and Culture, Talent and Learning Centre of Excellence at UHN, this role will initially oversee three (3) direct reports.
Duties
• Lead the redesign of UHN's enterprise-wide orientation program, guiding its design, facilitating events, and ensuring continuous improvement for an exceptional Day 1 to Day 14 employee experience.
• Collaborate with People and Culture teams and throughout the organization to design and maintain an accurate and relevant orientation program, meeting internal stakeholder needs and industry best practices.
• Drive outcome measurement and continuous improvement efforts for UHN's orientation process, ensuring it aligns with organizational goals and remains effective.
• Manage the planning and execution of logistics for all orientation and associated events to ensure a seamless orientation experience.
• Take charge of the learning team, including instructional designers and advisors, fostering success through close collaboration with Learning Management System Specialists.
• Provide overall leadership for learning solutions, design strategies, and strategic planning, ensuring timely and successful completion of projects using sound design and development practices.
• Manage course development projects, offering instructional design and project leadership to create various learning solutions for teamUHN.
• Utilize an external content management system to design, build, and curate learning pathways, enhancing knowledge and skills acquisition for different stakeholders across the organization.
• Lead outcome measurement and continuous improvement efforts for UHN’s learning strategy and programs.
• Other duties as required.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or college diploma with a specialty in Education, Organizational Development or Leadership, Human Resource Development, or relevant education and experience.
• Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in HR, including 1-3 years of experience managing teams.
• Experience creating and facilitating talent management programs designed to meet the needs of employees at various levels, including orientation programs.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS). Innovative and confident working with new technologies, platforms, and software.
• Knowledge of the principles of organizational development and adult learning and education. Curriculum development experience with the ability to create content designed to meet the needs of employees at various levels.
• Highly collaborative with strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to distill complex concepts into clearly understandable decision points and recommendations.
• Experience working with a variety stakeholders including but not limited to frontline employees, operational leaders, individual contributors in functional areas, and executives would be considered an asset.
