Global Streaming Technology Operations team is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to grow and develop our global team. We develop and support tools to help our colleagues deliver a streaming platform that is accessible to a global audience, using data to help predict, identify, and prevent disruption for our customers.
What You'll Do
• As a Senior Engineer, you'll play a central role in shaping the future of Tooling and Automation technologies for Global Streaming Platforms. Your responsibility includes contributing to and influencing the technical direction of the department, ensuring alignment with our departmental vision.
• Develop data ingests and APIs feeding internal dashboards and apps, leveraging cloud technologies such as GCP and AWS to streaming processes and enhance efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with other engineers and cross-functional teams, actively exchanging knowledge and mentoring fellow software engineers to uphold best practices and foster their development.
• Craft clean, dependable code, elevating the standards of code quality and testing within your teams to enhance user experiences.
• Champion the integration of leading technology and software development practices within the team, infusing your passion and enthusiasm to drive progress and innovation.
What You'll Bring
• Strong proficiency in the Go Programming Language, specialising in developing scalable and efficient backend services. Proven track record in designing and implementing robust, high-performing applications
• Extensive hands-on experience with GCP or AWS services, with at least 3 years of practical application using services like PubSub, SQS, SNS, CloudSQL, RDS, Aurora, BigQuery, Redshift, Cloud Functions or Lambda.
• Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining microservices-based architectures, with a strong history of creating scalable and resilient systems in distributed environments.
• In-depth knowledge on database systems, encompassing SQL and NoSQL, with a focus on scalability and performance. Proficient in optimising database queries and ensuring data integrity.
• Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, including familiarity with best practices for API versioning, documentation, and security, ensuring comprehensive and efficient design.
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and Elastic.
• Skilled in setting up comprehensive systems for tracking and debugging purposes.
• Experience leading and mentoring junior developers, willingness to share knowledge and contribute to the continuous learning culture of the team.
