Every lawyer on the crypto team spends 100% of their time advising clients in the crypto and blockchain industry. The crypto team is Chambers-ranked in Crypto Asset Disputes and FinTech Legal. The head of the group has been practicing crypto law for over a decade and is one of the few lawyers ranked Band 1 by Chambers for Crypto Asset Disputes, a "Trailblazer" in crypto law by the American Lawyer, a Rising Star in FinTech by Law360, ranked in the Legal 500, and recognized by the Global Investigations Review. The crypto team works closely with the Technology Transactions and Bankruptcy teams. McDermott was awarded The M&A Advisor Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year in 2022 for our work in the first U.S. crypto bankruptcy case, Cred, Inc. The New York office is seeking a 2nd – 6th year Associate for the crypto team. This role will focus exclusively on crypto clients in connection with litigation, investigation, regulatory advice, bankruptcy litigation, and licensing. Our crypto associates get training and experience in a variety of disciplines, all of which is focused on the crypto industry. Crypto and blockchain knowledge is required. Job Requirements: • Must be a current member of the New York bar • Must have outstanding academic credentials from a top-tier school and strong writing skills • Clerkships and prior Big Law experience is preferred • Crypto and blockchain knowledge is required • Experience in crypto-related litigation, government investigations, or regulatory advice is ideal Effective January 1, 2024 Expected Pay Range for Associates: 2024/2023 Class Compensation Years: $225,000 2022 Class Compensation Years: $235,000 2021 Class Compensation Years: $260,000 2020 Class Compensation Years: $310,000 2019 Class Compensation Years: $365,000 2018 Class Compensation Years: $390,000 2017 Class Compensation Years: $420,000 2016 and more senior class compensation years: $435,000
