Our client, a leading global insurance company, is looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with strong experience in migrating on-premise databases to Microsoft Azure cloud platform. As a PostgreSQL DBA, you will play a key role in the infrastructure transformation and migration project, ensuring the successful and secure transition of the existing PostgreSQL databases to Azure. You will work closely with the development, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver a high-quality and scalable database solution.
Responsibilities of the Role:
• Assess the current state of the PostgreSQL databases, including schema, data, and performance metrics.
• Plan and execute the migration of the PostgreSQL databases to Azure Database for PostgreSQL, using Azure database migration tools and services, such as Azure Database Migration Service.
• Convert and transform the database schema and data to ensure compatibility and optimal performance in the Azure environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the application and database integration, functionality, and security.
• Tune and optimize the database performance in the cloud, using query optimization, indexing, and Azure-specific features.
• Implement and enforce the database security and compliance policies, including access controls, encryption, and auditing.
• Test and validate the migrated databases to ensure data integrity, functionality, and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any database issues that arise during or after the migration process.
• Document and maintain the migration process, including procedures, configurations, and best practices.
• Train and mentor the team members and stakeholders involved in the migration project.
Required Skills for the Role:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Developer, with a strong focus on database migration to Azure.
• In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL database management, including schema design, performance optimization, and query tuning.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform, specifically Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages for database development and automation.
• Familiarity with Azure database migration tools and services, such as Azure Database Migration Service and Azure Data Factory.
• Strong understanding of database security, compliance, and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
