The Data Analyst is responsible for helping the company understand our data and use it more effectively. The Data Analyst collaborates with with others to increase the value of our data, protect it from loss or corruption, execute corporate projects, and facilitate better decision making through data-driven insights. Data Management and Governance Understand what data means and how data is used to support business and technical processes Collaborate with data owners, stewards, and custodians to support execution of data governance program Participate in workshops and interviews with cross-functional teams to elicit data requirements and achieve stakeholder alignment Identify and present data issues for review and resolution Support development of data models and schemas Conduct data impact assessments of proposed changes to a business process or system Provide guidance, communicate and promote data governance policies, standards, and processes throughout the company Recommend data classifications based on business relevance, data sensitivity, and data quality Ensure protection of confidential data and compliance with all legal and regulatory guidelines Reporting and Analytics Determine relevant data for analytic use cases Transform and cleanse data sets for analysis Assess data quality, identify outliers, impute missing values (if applicable) Build reports and dashboards to monitor KPIs Identify patterns in data sets such as trends, clusters, and correlations Explain findings and recommendations to executive stakeholders Development and Data Engineering Analyze business and system requirements to understand data needs Support development of data pipelines and data services Provide subject matter expertise to ensure successful completion of corporate projects What We're Looking For Required : Bachelor’s in statistics, computer science, engineering, or related field; a minimum of 2 years relevant experience; Bilingual English & Spanish Preferred : Master’s in statistics, analytics, computer science, engineering, or related field; 4+ years relevant experience Ability to write complex SQL queries Excellent analytical and organizational skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Passionate about delivering business value through data and technology High degree of curiosity and inquisitiveness Attention to detail Desire for continual improvement and lifelong learning Knowledge of data storage methods (files, relational / non-relational databases) and data types (string, integer, float, date, binary, etc.) Ability to work with different data formats (CSV, JSON, XML, Parquet) Familiarity with different data structures (tabular, hierarchical, relational, graph, key-value) Understanding of probability and statistics Ability to manipulate and analyze data using Python and / or R Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques Expert in Excel Awareness of industry trends, best practices, and applicable laws / regulations (HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA) Last updated : 2024-01-01
