Job Summary:
We are seeking a creative and passionate Video Game Writer to join our team on a remote part-time basis. As a Video Game Writer, you will play a crucial role in crafting engaging narratives, dialogue, and character development for our video game projects. Your primary responsibility will be to create immersive and compelling stories that resonate with players and enhance their gaming experience.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the game development team to understand the game's concept, mechanics, and target audience.
- Develop captivating storylines, plot arcs, and character backgrounds that align with the game's vision and gameplay.
- Write engaging dialogue, in-game text, and narrative elements to bring the game world and characters to life.
- Create and maintain story bibles, character profiles, and other reference materials to ensure consistency throughout the game's development.
- Work closely with the game designers to integrate the story seamlessly into gameplay mechanics, quests, and missions.
- Collaborate with the art and audio teams to ensure that the visual and auditory elements align with the narrative vision.
- Conduct thorough research on relevant themes, genres, and historical/cultural aspects to enhance the game's authenticity.
- Adapt and incorporate player feedback into the narrative and dialogue to improve player engagement and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the localization team to ensure successful translation of the game's narrative into different languages.
- Stay updated with industry trends, narrative techniques, and advancements in video game storytelling.
- Meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality written content within agreed-upon timelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to copyright guidelines when working with sensitive game content.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Video Game Writer, Narrative Designer, or in a related role.
- Strong passion for video games and a deep understanding of interactive storytelling.
- Excellent storytelling and creative writing skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives and engaging dialogue.
- Familiarity with different genres and game mechanics, and the ability to adapt writing style accordingly.
- Proficiency in writing for diverse characters, settings, and tones.
- Knowledge of game development processes and collaboration with diverse teams.
- Strong collaborative and communication skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with game design software and tools (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar) is a plus.
- Reliable internet connection and availability for remote collaboration.
