Senior Azure SQL DBA

Central London - Hybrid
Monday – Friday – 35hours a week
Maintain, build and monitor SQL Servers for Asta and clients. Ensuring all SQL servers are secure, perform well and are regularly backed up. Support and maintain the Davies Insurance Services Azure SQL estate. Support development life cycle, promoting changes to production environments. Some development will also be required.
Work closely with the infrastructure and platform teams to build new SQL instances as required for both internal use at Asta/Davies and for use by Asta's clients, ensuring guidelines and standards are adhered to.
Perform continuous monitoring of all SQL servers to ensure adequate resources are allocated and good performance levels are maintained.
Ensure regular database backups are taken, working with the infrastructure/platform teams to maintain a robust data backup and recovery process.
Undertake and maintain a regular timetable of maintenance on all SQL servers ensuring patch levels are kept up to date as well as ensuring databases are working efficiently.
Maintain Davies/Asta's source control software, ensuring all code releases are properly tested and authorised prior to promoting to the production environments.
Work to develop new and maintain existing internally written applications and reports to support the day to day business.
Keep up to date with SQL Server releases and actively investigate improvements in process, performance and resource allocation to help rationalise the SQL server estate; A good understanding of the SQL Server stack, including SSRS, and SSIS.
Educated to degree level in a mathematical and / or IT discipline is desirable, but a strong relevant SQL Server experience is preferable.
Should have excellent Microsoft Office skills especially Excel. A good knowledge of Sharepoint and / or a programming language would be an advantage
One to three years experience within an Insurance or Financial Services environment would be an advantage, but not essential
