Lead Software Engineer, Back End

At Capital One, we are looking for Back End Software Engineers who are excited about using data and emerging technologies. As a Software Engineer at Capital One, you will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of a major transformation.
What You'll Do:
- Lead a team of developers working on diverse technology projects, with a focus on distributed microservices and full stack systems, to meet regulatory needs.
- Stay up-to-date with tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and participate in technology communities. Mentor other members of the engineering community.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to create cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans financially.
- Use programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, as well as AWS tools and services.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience
- At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- 7+ years of experience in one or more programming languages like Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
- 2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
- 1+ years of people management experience
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
Salaries for this role range from $197,400 to $225,300 for Lead Software Engineer in New York City (Hybrid On-Site). Salaries for other locations will vary.
This role is also eligible for performance-based compensation, including bonuses and long-term incentives.
