This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a fast moving digitisation project in a successful commodity trading business working with exciting modern technologies, and further developing skills and responsibility in software engineering and delivery.
Key Qualifications and Experience Solid experience with at least one statically typed language: C# (strongly preferred), Java, Go, Rust etc Angular or React
A strong sense of aesthetics - UI/UXStrong interest and ability to write clean, modular, maintainable code
Experience of database design (both relational and non-relational) cloud, Azure preferred5 plus years experience in a business-facing development role for a team within a commodity trading/financial organisation or good tech house
Excellent communication skills and some experience of technical writing e.g., writing solution design documents, writing support guides, other technical documentation
Python knowledge desirable Docker and Kubernetes & exposure to Dev Ops scripting & automation desirable
Key Role
Responsibilities Engage directly with Risk and MO users to understand their requirements, agree a product backlog and lead product envisioning / design for UI and UXDesign, build and test robust, high-quality systems using modern software engineering techniques including DDD, TDD, CI/CD and static analysis
Ensure that solutions are engineered appropriately for their scale, criticality and strategic importance, maintaining alignment with IT infrastructure architecture and technology
Contribute to the migration of some of existing tools and processes to more sophisticated technologies, including cloud, web interfaces, monitoring, test automation etc.
Learn an uderstand the business, taking a proactive approach to building the knowledge needed to communicate effectively with users
Help to define and continuously improve the end-to-end IT delivery process and ways of working Build and share knowledge e.g., writing documentation or running handover workshops.
