UX Designer 6-month Fixed Term Contract Location Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane About the team: The UX design team is the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for UX within the Suncorp Group. We deliver initiatives across various platforms within the Insurance space. Our team design a broad range of optimisation solutions, new business initiatives and propositions whilst keeping aligned to company digital strategy to drive and enhance our customer's digital connections around 'moments that matter'. A usual day will have our designers working in close collaboration with dedicated Online experience specialists (Product owners), content editors, performance & Insight leads, SEO, Copywriters and Development teams all working towards creating dynamic solutions for our business stakeholders whilst creating great customer experience. Although the key focus for this role will predominately web based, there are a range of digital platforms and environments that all team members are expected to contribute to. About the role: Reporting to the User Experience Manager and sitting within the digital groups Centre of Expertise (CoE) our UX designers are responsible for delivering and progressing Suncorp's digital experiences across our insurance brands and customer platforms. Under our UX Leads guidance our designers are actively involved across the full product development lifecycle from validating initial concept definition, (design analysis), outlining design stages to be undertaken, communicating suggested designs & recommendations before embarking upon building out UI design prototypes. Specifically, our UX designers will Lead the communication of design recommendations with UX and product delivery teams, whilst being a central contact point for wider stakeholder groups. Manage UX design delivery, updating progression via JIRA and internal team ceremonies. Adhere to best practice UX design and group Style Guide and component libraries. Lead stakeholders to understand and maintain evidence-based design and human centred practices. Evolve & contribute towards the teams WoW, design approach and methodologies. Actively report and present design showcase activities. More specifically, you will: You'll be working across both Web and Sales channels (Customer research, discovery and purchase) and Service platforms (self-service platforms) across a range brands, applications, and initiatives, so the ability to adapt to changing business priorities is essential as is having a variety of experience and problem-solving focus. You have an eye for creating detailed UI designs, knowledge of ways to support accessibility requirements as well as experience with and applying component design thinking (design systems) is also beneficial, as Suncorp's environments are embedded in this approach. UX Designer profile Our designers should exhibit the following behaviours and attributes: Problem solving - Drive new design solutions, efficiently and effectively. Confidently share this knowledge/rationale with both fellow UX designers and wider stakeholders. Personable – Confident & approachable interpersonal skills, collaborative approaches to design, customer, and business challenges, and importantly be mindful of receiving feedback as well. Deliverables – Design a range of solutions and optimisation recommendations from initial inception & problem definition stage (with both business & technical stakeholders) to final designs for development teams (UI skills). Research – Suggest direction on customer insight gathering and user testing. Either running or overseeing such research activities. Stakeholders – Present design concepts and justify why such design solutions are preferable from both a design, customer & business perspective. Influence stakeholders of best practice and evidence-based design solutions. Design Systems – Understand the benefits of using design systems and Native mobile frameworks (iOS & Android) would be favourable. Be comfortable working within such frames works whilst also advocating potential areas for renewal. Workflow – An understanding of how the design process workflow and be able to recognise design tasks at appropriate stage. Collaboration – Comfortable collaborating with other teams such as Product owners, Designers, Content production, SEO and Developers whom all have a part to play in delivering compelling digital experiences for our customers. Key Capabilities: Strong knowledge of responsive web, including native mobile (App) and emerging mobile experience trends, with keen eye for detail and usability/accessibility standards. Ability to initially map out or oversee user experiences/features (wire flows), then progress to full fidelity UI prototypes for product and development teams. Strong knowledge of online form design and usability, including best practice UI interaction for web and mobile. (Ability to distil complex information and contextualising it for users) Understanding and practise lean research testing methods. Understand the thinking, principles, and benefits of Component Design systems (multi-brand/themed libraries preferable). Passionate about UX design and keeps abreast with latest user trends and ways of working. Preferably 4+ years' experience as a UX designer Can clearly show an applied understanding of UX methodologies including (but not limited to) HCD, User research, Interaction & Interface Design, Information Architecture and Journey/Task mapping. Workshop facilitation would also be an advantage.
