Senior Grid Network Expert - Renewable Energy

Package: £110k - £130k DOE + Bonus
The Organisation
Our client is a dynamic renewables development and management firm with solid track record and ambitious growth plans. There is a significant existing pipeline exceeding 1GW of Solar PV and Battery Storage. There is also large backing from one of the largest infra funds in Europe to develop a further 1GW.
With proprietary tech on the origination side our client has a significant advantage over its competitors in a UK landscape where grid accessibility has never been more important. This cannot be underplayed and will benefit everyone within the business over the next 3-5 years.
The Role
This is a unique role with a hybrid focus - primarily there will be a big focus on industry involvement and forums. Close involvement with the Energy Network Association, DNO steering groups, National Grid Steering Groups will be key.
The second focus will be to provide strong technical capability, specifically dynamic modelling with PowerFactory, modelling different scenarios using Python or C++.
This is a senior position within the team and will be crucial to our client's evolution to IPP status. As such there will be fantastic career opportunities as they scale.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and positive, with excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to use their initiative.
Responsibilities:
Lead the research, critique and sourcing of datasets relevant to understanding grid infrastructure
Devise, create and maintain a suitable storage area of up-to-date data
Lead relations with key members of each DNO and TO
Lead the further development of the inhouse grid capacity system
Run a programme to continually improve the processes by increasing automation and scope of outputs via software such as Python, C++ or others
Lead continual research into the DIgSILENT suite of software to explore ways its functionality can increase the capability of the company
Regularly attend connection surgeries, workshops and forums held by each DNO/TO
Understanding of the UK grid code, and the underlying root causes of triggering reinforcement of curtailment of schemes
Your Experience:
5+ years of business experience in Grid Analysis and Modelling
Competency with exploring and understanding UK Grid Infrastructure at both Distribution and Transmission level
Knowledge of PowerFactory and its use in expanding the automation and capability of processing DNO/TO Datasets
An eagerness to learn more about the issues the UK Grid faces, and the forward thinking required to find the solutions that will sustain Grid Development
Ability to interpret and critique formal grid connection offers
Excellent communication and presentation skills
