Oracle Server DBA | Permanent | Hybrid | Up to £85,000 + Bonus | City of London This client operates on a hybrid working model with 3 days a week being onsite in the City of London The opportunity is to join a prestigious financial services organisation. They are a leading trader within the commodities market and are a global organisation which provides many technological opportunities within their business. The Responsibilities: • Design and Build: Design and construct robust, scalable, and secure Oracle & MySQL systems, including high availability and replication setup. • Database Management: Create databases for production, pre-production, testing, and development purposes while administering them effectively. • Software Management: Install, monitor, upgrade, and migrate Oracle 19c onwards & MySQL 8.x databases. • Disaster Recovery & High Availability: Establish disaster recovery plans, failover procedures, and implement High Availability using Active Data Guard. • Performance Enhancement: Conduct capacity planning, optimize performance, conduct audits, and enforce user database security measures. • Standards Improvement: Recommend and implement new standards for enhanced efficiency, effectiveness, and robustness across all environments. • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate within the team, share knowledge through documentation, and work collectively on tasks. • Incident Resolution and Support: Respond promptly to production issues, take ownership of resolutions, document actions taken, and communicate the impact to management while providing round-the-clock support and incident response. Required Skills and Experience: • Finance Sector Support: Extensive experience in managing Development and Production databases within the finance sector. • Database Expertise: Proficiency in Oracle 19c, MySQL 8.x or later versions, with a focus on backup, recovery, tuning, partitioning, and cloning. • Multi-Platform Knowledge: Familiarity and practical experience with Postgres and MSSQL databases. • Administration and Maintenance: Skilled in all aspects of database administration, from design and installation to ongoing maintenance. • Backup and Recovery Proficiency: Adept in implementing and managing database server backup and recovery procedures. • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Hands-on experience in ensuring high availability and planning for disaster recovery scenarios. • Proactive Issue Resolution: Capable of monitoring databases and resolving technical issues before they escalate. • Incident Management: Proficient in incident management, efficiently handling and resolving database-related incidents.
