Legal Counsel
Candidates with more experience will be considered as Senior Legal Counsel.
Responsibilities
• Examine and revise sales contracts, tenders, subcontracts, vendor agreements (for hardware, software and services) and related documents to ensure compliance with the company policies, suggest changes and identify, advise on and propose solutions for contractual issues, legal and commercial risks to the business proposal teams.
• Negotiate with other parties as needed by the business proposal teams.
• Apply for approvals for deviations from company policies.
• Provide legal training for business and project staff, including creating training materials.
• Give legal advice to support corporate functions.
• Support periodic audit exercise on the company and the legal department.
• Help with company secretariat functions.
• Evaluate policies and processes of the legal function, collect and analyse data, prepare reports and policy papers for the general improvement of the legal function and processes.
• Report and communicate with parent companies on legal matters, including periodic litigation reporting.
• Perform any other function as assigned from time to time.
Requirements
• A good bachelor’s or master’s degree in law from Hong Kong or UK.
• Admitted to the Bar in a major jurisdiction.
• 5-8 years PQE with several years in private practice in a good law firm. Experience could be in corporate work, litigation or a mix of both. In-house experience in an IT environment will be a plus; candidates without this experience but who are interested in working in an IT environment may also apply.
• Have strong language skills and good people management skills.
• Have strong work ethic, able to work in a focused way and within tight deadlines
