Company Name: Capital One Job Description Job Title: Senior Machine Learning Engineer Location: Plano, Texas, United States About the Role: As a Capital One Machine Learning Engineer (MLE), you will be part of a diverse team dedicated to developing and implementing machine learning applications and systems. Your role will involve designing and building machine learning models, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the performance and availability of our machine learning applications. You will also have the opportunity to stay updated on the latest innovations and best practices in machine learning engineering. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with teams from different disciplines such as Ops, Modeling, and Data Engineering to perform various machine learning engineering activities. - Design and deliver machine learning models and components that solve real-world business problems in collaboration with Product and Data Science teams. - Use your understanding of machine learning techniques and issues to make informed decisions about the ML infrastructure, including model selection, data and feature selection, model training, and validation. - Solve complex problems by writing and testing application code, developing and validating ML models, and automating tests and deployments. - Work as part of an Agile team to create and enhance software that supports big data and machine learning applications. - Maintain and monitor models in production. - Utilize cloud-based architectures and technologies to scale ML models. - Build optimized data pipelines to feed ML models. - Follow best practices in Responsible and Explainable AI, ensuring code management and model governance. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree. - Minimum 4 years of programming experience with Python, Scala, or Java. - Minimum 3 years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing. - Minimum 2 years of on-the-job experience with an industry recognized ML framework (e.g. scikit-learn, PyTorch, Dask, Spark, or TensorFlow). - Minimum 1 year of experience productionizing, monitoring, and maintaining models. Preferred Qualifications: - 1+ years of experience building, scaling, and optimizing ML systems. - 1+ years of experience with data gathering and preparation for ML models. - 2+ years of experience developing performant, resilient, and maintainable code. - Experience developing and deploying ML solutions in a public cloud such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. - Master's or doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or a similar field. - 3+ years of experience with distributed file systems or multi-node database paradigms. - Contribution to open-source ML software. - Authored/co-authored a paper on an ML technique, model, or proof of concept. - 3+ years of experience building production-ready data pipelines for ML models. - Experience designing, implementing, and scaling complex data pipelines for ML models and evaluating their performance. Salary Information: The salary range for this role in New York City (Hybrid On-Site) is $161,900 - $184,800 for Senior Machine Learning Engineer. For other locations, the salary will be based on the respective pay range.
