Our client in the Energy Sector is looking for a Senior Database Administrator MS, SQL - Oracle on a 12 month contract Role/Responsibilities: • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in deploying and supporting mixed environments containing both MS SQL (2017, 2019) and Oracle DB Servers (12c and 19c) • “Hands-on” database management (performance tuning, capacity planning, troubleshooting, monitoring & alerting, migrating, applying Service Packs, back-up & restoring, Disaster Recovery) • Installing and configuration new databases • Migrating and upgrading legacy databases • Implementing & enforcing enterprise security, access controls, and policy based management • Support of production environments and mission critical applications with rotational on-call schedule Technical Experience: Mandatory • 8 years – MS SQL and Oracle database management • 5 years – MS SQL and Oracle experience with backup & recovery • 5 years – MS SQL and Oracle experience with redundancy, replication and performance tuning techniques • 5 years – MS SQL experience with Microsoft clusters • Familiar with monitoring and alerting tools Highly Desirable • Experience with Oracle Database Administration • Experience with installing and maintaining multi cluster environment • Knowledgeable in SQL Server High Availability and Scalability • Knowledgeable in RMAN, Grid Control, and ASM Non-Technical Skills: • Strong communication skills, both verbal and writing • Must be dependable and flexible, able to work independently and as part of a team • Knowledge of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts • Comfortable working in an environment with a high degree of multitasking • Ability to work with technical and non-technical staff • Logical and proactive problem solver • Identifies and resolves issues with excellent follow-through • Possesses good understanding of network principles such as load balancing and firewalls Other Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
