Senior NLP Data Scientist
Following our inclusion in the ‘Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100’ and having finished the year being named ‘Company of the Year’ at the Belfast Business Eye Awards, FinTrU is looking for a Senior NLP Data Scientist to join our growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior NLP Data Scientist to join the FinTrU Data Science team to work in partnership with Product Management and Engineering to support and deliver on our Product Strategy and Vision.
This role can be based at/near any of our offices in Belfast, London, Derry, Letterkenny or Porto.
The role would be hybrid between home and office.
The experience required within this team:
• Demonstrated track record of developing and deploying NLP and ML techniques in production
• Proven experience and understanding of NLP techniques to transform unstructured data such as texts/documents/email etc – technical skills encompassing some of the following:
• Experience working in any of the transformers-based models such as BERT, GPT, T5, etc.
• Experience with LLM models and ML frameworks and libraries e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, huggingface transformers, spaCy, NLTK, scikit-learn, etc.
• Experience with structured and unstructured / semi-structured data (e.g. raw text, json, xml)
• Experience in Python programming, with exposure to C/C++ beneficial
• Experience working with cloud computing and databases
• Experience with machine learning methodology and best practices
• Highly effective communicator, proficient with both technology and non-technology stakeholders
What can you expect in this role:
• Work in partnership with Product Management, DevOps and Engineering Leadership to support the delivery of the product vision and strategy, and associated Data Science Strategy
• Unlock the value of data through development of NLP techniques, ML methodologies and compelling data visualizations
• Research and analyse industry and technology trends to identify opportunities to enhance our product offerings and efficiency through adoption of new techniques, technologies, tooling, automation and best practices
• Collaborate closely with data engineers and ML engineers to ensure development of robust and scalable solutions which just work
• Create clear and concise technical documentation
• Support the head of Data Science in building a cross-disciplinary team to implement FinTrU's Data Science Strategy (e.g. Data Engineers, ML Engineers, Data Scientists as appropriate)
• Coach and mentor junior members of the team, demonstrating excellent technical expertise and leadership
Skills beneficial to this role:
• Experience and great understanding of NLP and Computer Vision techniques
• Hands-on experience with feature engineering, model training and model deployment
• Experience implementing ML/AI tooling in Azure is a plus
• Experience and understanding of Financial Services as a domain, especially wealth management and investment banking
• Previous experience in a client-facing role enabling you to work with FinTrU's clients to clearly articulate the role and operation of models within our Products
