Introduction We’re looking for a Senior Architect to join our growing teams supporting customer data capabilities. The role of a Senior Architect at the BBC entails working alongside business-, technical-, governance- and security -stakeholders to identify key business problems and define the business and technical requirements. A Senior architect will use these requirements to develop technical designs that will solve these business problems and defines the technical design strategy over the 3 to 18 month time horizon. Our Architects are embedded into agile development teams where you will work closely with product, engineering, QA, business analysts, stakeholders, and user experience teams, at all stages of development to deliver on these technical designs. A Senior Architect at the BBC will be an advocate of the needs of the users of our systems and can communicate complex technical designs and problems to technical and non-technical audiences. This key role will be responsible for realising the system designs that will move our current data platform capabilities to a next generation more self-service data platform that embeds and enforces data governance and data management best practices. This will include introducing tools to catalog data products and to enable data producers to test and publish the data quality of those data products. The self-service data platform will need to empower data users to manage their data more as a data product and makes use of some of the principles from the data mesh approach. This role will be responsible for ensuring that the self-service data platform provides capabilities that match the skillsets of multiple data user personas to empower them to produce insights and data products from data held within a data lake and data warehouse. The role will play a key part to help us build flexible, distinctive, resilient, consistent & intuitive tools to empower teams to harness the power of data about our audiences and content. You will work closely with the Lead Architect and Senior Architects for the Data Platform and alongside other architects in our Product Group to contribute to the strategy for the services which manage content and metadata, audience data and audience accounts.
