Raytheon Technologies is seeking a UX/UI Design Engineer to join our Advanced UX Team to apply advanced user experience design solutions to solve complex problems for the end users of our decision-critical systems. At Raytheon, our UX/UI Design Engineers solve the most challenging User-Centered Design (UCD) problems for mission critical systems using iterative design methods. A Raytheon UX/UI Design Engineer is responsible for the human experience of operators who use our software to accomplish their high-consequence missions. Because of this, familiarity with both UCD and Human Factors Engineering methods, especially within areas such as cognition and decision-making, is important. UI/UX Design Engineers explore user goals, tasks, workflows, and information needs within the operational environment, and use what they learn to tailor the design of the UI to meet the needs of the user, the task, and the mission, within the constraints of the customer requirements and the business value provided. They collaborate with development scrum teams as the advocate for the user to translate user research findings into efficient, effective and usable software solutions that end users WANT to use. Some prototypes may be data-driven to support user testing scenarios. • Plan, organize and set up usability tests to collect the best possible data from limited opportunities for user engagements. • Collaborate with front-end development teams and Specialty Engineering groups to socialize design patterns and guidance. Advocate for designs that deliver best value to the user while considering ease of implementation • Organize essential tools, templates, scripts, patterns, and styles into a version-controlled directory for sharing within teams • Research and train colleagues on current prototyping trends, technologies, and techniques. Bring your academic or industry expertise in design prototyping to expand our team capabilities. • Understand our varied audiences and create and mature a design vocabulary that addresses their unique needs. • Obsessively refine details and drive perfection in our designs. • Maintain a current understanding of relevant government and international UI standards and practices (e.g., MILSTD 1472H, ISO 9241-110/210)EducationTypically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.Relocation assistance available provided final candidate meets eligibility requirementsRaytheon Technologies is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
