Job Summary
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer will be focused on applying AI and process automation to solve a wide range of complex problems at Porter Airlines. The ideal candidate has a solutions-driven mindset and real-world experience using AI to solve real-world problems. This position will include responsibilities of an AI and software engineer.
Duties & Responsibilities
● Work with different business units to identify and propose new opportunities to apply AI
techniques to improve processes at Porter
● Build, train, and deploy models to production
● Monitor effectiveness of production systems
● Perform regular system health checks on and help maintain processes
● Carry out research and development to meet the needs of our AI strategy
● Analyze and present solutions to internal stakeholders
● Collaborate with internal team members providing data, insights, and models to assist with
analytical needs
● Remain current on leading practices, research, and technologies in relevant fields
● Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy

Qualifications
● Two or more years experience applying AI models
● Proficiency with coding (e.g., Python, C++, R, or Matlab)
● Knowledge of basic algorithms, forecast techniques, and optimization concepts
● Familiar working with large and sparse datasets
● A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in AI, OR (Operations Research), or related technical field
● Analytical mind and business acumen
● Strong math skills
● Desire to work with a high degree of autonomy on exploratory projects
● Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, research-oriented group
● Drive for finding the right solutions to solving complex problems
Assets
● A Master’s or PhD in AI, OR, or related technical field
● Research publications or open-source work related to AI/ML/OR
● Knowledge of airline operations and/or revenue management
● Experience working with stochastic systems and building robust optimization models
