Amazon Advertising operates at the intersection of eCommerce and advertising, offering a rich array of digital display advertising solutions with the goal of helping our customers find and discover anything they want to buy. We help advertisers reach Amazon customers.
Sponsored Display is Amazon Advertising's first self-service display advertising offering. With Sponsored Display, any advertiser - regardless of budget size, advertising experience, or technical expertise, can set up display campaigns to run on key placements across Amazon retail website and apps, devices (Kindle, Fire Tablet, Fire TV, Echo), third party websites (e.g. ) and mobile apps.
Key job responsibilities
Establish and manage scalable engineering team structures that create, correct and evolve ad serving services, infrastructure and tools.
Thinking big and working with BOLDx leadership team, business stakeholders to define vision, strategy and roadmaps.
Partner with BOLDx technical managers, and Senior/Principal Engineers to determine the long-term viability of architectures
Partner with product, business, and technology teams across Amazon Ads to drive alignment and make high-judgment decisions.
Develop closed-loop mechanisms that enable you to quickly identify when projects are at risk and then act decisively to get them back on track.
Establish mechanisms that audit the shopper experience, quality, operational performance of the software produced by your teams. You define standards of excellence and drive your teams to adopt best practices.
Drive your teams to proactively identify gaps and opportunities (e.g., services, workflows, tooling) within or between regions, architectures, and organizations. You make sure risks are mitigated and bottlenecks are removed to enable your teams to work independently.
Own all business and operational metrics for your team's software.
Building world-class engineering teams by hiring exceptional talent, coaching and developing through strategic project assignment.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Edinburgh, MLN, GBR BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience working directly within engineering teams
- Experience managing engineers
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in leading the design and development of multi tier web services experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
