The Opportunity As an integral member of our FSQA Co-manufacturing team, the QA Specialist, Co-manufacturing executes the hold and release and customer and consumer complaints processes pertaining to our co-manufacturing partners, as well as identifying and investigating discrepancies, which is critical in maintaining certifications to support product claims. This role also manages CoA (Certificate of Analysis) required by specific customers, documents supporting label claims and Certification documents as required. Snapshot Of a Day-in-the-Life Product Hold and Release: • Administer the Hold and Release company standard for Co-manufactured Finished Goods. • Identify date code/case count discrepancies, loss of control for 3 PL and supply chain teams. • Assist in the Investigation when loss of control situations occur. • Update the Co-man Hold and Release tracker as applicable and on a timely basis. • Execute on specific default incubations, set up default holds as needed. • Set up unique holds or supply chain requests on an approved case by case basis. Co-manufacturing Customer and Consumer Complaints (Maple Leaf and GreenLeaf) • Issue Co-man SNCRs (Supplier Non-Conformance Reporting = MLF ZV transactions in SAP) as applicable. • Issue Consumer complaints, Red-Risk events or requests from the Consumer Engagement team to the co-man and follow up as needed. Assess the responses and provide the detail to the Consumer Engagement team. • Assist with CFIA requests for information related to Co-man with highest sense of urgency. • Update, organize and oversee the Co-man Complaint tracker in a timely manner for Customer QNs (Quality Notifications), Co-man specific QNs and Consumer Complaints. • Attend Hot sheet calls for Co-man products to address sales questions and corrective actions • Prepare the Complaint (Customer and Consumer) Reports for quarterly and year-end reporting. • Arrange samples collection & return for all complaint types, as needed. Processing of Co-manufacturing Engineering Change Records (ECRs): • Monitor SAP-RD inbox and label ECRs to be addressed as they come in. • Manage, organize, and complete Label ECR tracker (new launch and revisions to current specifications). • Represent FSQA department on ECR notes /project calls, as needed. • Assist with ECR temp approvals, as required. • Assist with regulatory initiatives and updates. • Follow Company ECR work instructions, which encompasses a variety of unique and fluid situations. Miscellaneous • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities wherever possible. • Customer spec team completion of requests related to Co-manufacturers and support team as needed. • Maintain Contacts tracker and distribute cross-functionally to ensure data is current. • Maintain co-mans’ annual GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) Certification records and Letter of Guarantee documentation and list within tracker. • Request finished product samples from Distribution Centers as needed. • Communicate EDMS (Easy Document Management System) issues to IS (Information Services) support and ensure follow up. • Engage in meeting rhythms, including documentation as required, including weekly progress to manager. • Complete Alchemy and other mandator training required. What You’ll Bring • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a Science related field. • Minimum 3 years of experience in the food industry with exceptional understanding of HACCP, FSEP, SFCR, CFIA Meat Manual of Procedures and the Meat Inspection Regulations. • 3-5 years of auditing Food Safety and Quality Systems in food manufacturing facilities. • Strong working knowledge of food/meat processing and processing equipment. • Demonstrated proficiency with quality management concepts, including but not limited to supplier quality, risk analysis, statistical process control, root cause investigations and continuous improvement. • Ability to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced, changing environment with minimal supervision. • Exemplary organizational skills and highly detail conscious. • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Proven ability to collaborate, coach and mentor others. • Flexible and responsive to both customer needs and organizational priorities. • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Pivot tables, SharePoint, and SAP. • Internal Auditor certification to a GFSI scheme is an asset. • Understanding of US Regulations, Export & Import protocols, and Food & Drug Act is an asset. • French as a second language is an asset.
