Job Title: Senior Analyst (Data Science) Location: Toronto, Ontario - 2x a week - hybrid (flexible schedule and coordinate with the lead) Duration: 7 months (possibility of converting to FTE) Job Summary: You are an experienced analyst capable of leading large-scale data science projects and delivering valuable business insights through data-driven storytelling. This role requires partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure success. Thomson Reuters is seeking a Senior Analyst to support product abuse monitoring initiatives for its CoCounsel Transactional and Litigation products. This position is part of the Product Analytics team—a group of 25+ analysts from diverse backgrounds who regularly share ideas, best practices, and learnings. Reporting to the Lead Analyst, you will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced machine learning models tailored for fraud detection, enhancing the abuse dashboard across multiple products, and delivering innovative solutions that protect business interests. This position requires close collaboration with product managers, engineers, data architects, and other key stakeholders to understand the products and data requirements. You’ll help guide product development through data-informed decision-making. Key Responsibilities • Lead the design, development, and implementation of machine learning models focused on fraud detection. • Propose enhancements to improve fraud models and monitoring mechanisms. • Enhance and maintain abuse dashboards across various products. • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and data teams to align data strategies with business goals. • Translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for product and business stakeholders. • Promote a culture of data-informed decision-making across the organization. Key Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical/Biological Sciences, GIS). • 3–5 years of experience in data cleaning, analysis, programming, and reporting insights to stakeholders. • Strong understanding of machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), and statistical methodologies. • Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, or similar environments. • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, R*, Java*). • Hands-on experience with Big Data tools such as Spark and Hadoop. • Excellent planning, time management, and organizational abilities. • Self-starter and team player, capable of working independently and collaboratively. • Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences, turning complex data into clear insights.
