Design Researcher Duration: 12+ months Location: Hybrid, 4 days in office, downtown Toronto Rate: $58-62/hr (T4 rate) Overview: Join a high-performing mobile design team focused on delivering exceptional experiences within the Channels & Platform pillar of a leading mobile banking app. You'll collaborate across squads to shape user-centered solutions that align with strategic product goals and client needs. Key Responsibilities: • Collaborate with two mobile design squads to deliver cohesive and impactful user experiences. • Identify and define client needs using a variety of research methods and tools. • Analyze the competitive landscape to uncover business opportunities. • Facilitate workshops throughout the design process to align teams and generate insights. • Partner with product managers to connect strategy with client needs. • Lead and participate in user testing to validate design decisions. • Present design work to cross-functional teams and stakeholders. • Actively give and receive feedback to improve design outcomes. Must-Have Skills: • 7+ years experience as a Design Researcher • Ability to clearly articulate client and business problems, and formulate research questions based on gaps. • Strong understanding of appropriate research and testing methods for different types of questions. • Ability to evaluate competitive trends and identify strategic opportunities. • Familiarity with iOS and Android design patterns and trends. • Experience identifying what to research, test, and measure in production-and interpreting the results. • Work alongside a team of seasoned designers (10+ years experience across IxD, VisD, CD). • Build strong relationships with product and development teams to foster cross-functional collaboration. • Contribute to a culture of shared learning and continuous improvement. Design Research Engagement Model: • Conduct and synthesize secondary research. • Collaborate with teams to identify knowledge gaps and define research questions. • Plan and execute generative and evaluative research. • Monitor post-release performance and guide usability testing. • Facilitate workshops and present findings to stakeholders and leadership. In this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data, including financial information. This position is onsite and requires you to work closely with other individuals in a collaborative team environment.
